Yesterday I got to step in for a cameo on Haida Gwaii High, a film project my boi Patrick Shannon (@evilpatrick) is leading with the local high-school students, here in Masset, on the island of Haida Gwaii. With Sita (@sitakiora) and Lumina (@lumina232) having my back, I play the leader of the "Crocs." We are the misfits of the school. The irony to me here is that year's ago, I was deathly allergic to the rubber, no, plastic, no, "croslite" slip on. The chemicals didn't cause the allergy, I just thought they were super lame. 14 year old Phoebe was not impressed. Fast forward 17 years and there I was, in Vancouver (in the winter time) on a mission for a pair of Crocs! I was on my way to Tierra Mitica (@tierramitica), in the high jungles of Peru for an advanced self development workshop and collective art party, where the #1 choice footwear is, my arch nemesis, the Croc. It was a miracle that I was able to find these knock offs! Up to the check out we went, me and my new shoes! I can't go into too much depth of my love for these super sweet slip ons as I must save my footwear gushing for when I speak on my relationship to my number 1 boot. But I will say, I just LOVE that this role was offered to me, at this time of rewriting previous judgements. Everything is exactly, deliciously as it should be! I am looking forward to how things will progress with my involvement with Haida Gwaii High, who knows, maybe one day I will get to be a part of the Blundstones crew!
Tata for now. (Should that be my closing tagline?) Love, Phoebe Dykstra
